Review of The Bay (2012) by Luciano G — 11 Apr 2013

This is a very good movie. When you typically see "found footage" style movies, you expect it to be full of a lot of cheap scares and not a lot of story. Here, you have a superbly edited movie that uses many different mediums of film to tell a story.

While this movie is labeled horror, I'd say it is more along the lines of a mystery/thriller with a few scares every now and then. This seems to be more of a polished version of Contagion, while pushing the limits on a few of the ideas presented in that movie.

At times the scenes were a bit graphic, but that only adds to the idea of realism that the director was trying to present. The acting isn't that great, but for the most part it is being narrated as if this was a documentary.

Definitely worth the rent.
