Review of The Batman/Superman Movie: World's Finest (1997) by Kevin R — 18 Sep 2009
Two for the price of one.
While investigating a rare artifact stolen by the Joker and Harley Quinn, Batman discovers that the stolen antique was made of pure kryptonite. Batman makes a quick trip to Metropolis to inform Superman that the Joker is up to something. Batman and Superman quickly uncover that their styles do not match; however, when it becomes apparent that Lex Luther and Joker are working together, Batman and Superman will have to put their differences aside to stop their diabolical plan.
?Where?s Mr. Kent??
?Probably out husking some corn.?
Toshihiko Masuda, director of Lupin III: Elusiveness of the Fog and episodes of Batman: The Animated Series and Superman: The Animated Series, delivers The Batman Superman Movie: World?s Finest. The storyline for this cartoon movie was s bit predictable and had an old school comic book feel. The animation was solid and on par with the television series that were airing at the time of this movie?s release.
?Things are never what they seem with the Joker.?
I am a huge fan of the Superman and Batman Animated series that aired in the mid 90s. The action scenes are all well delivered, the voiceovers are perfect, and the storylines are well thought out. While I enjoy the box sets of these series better than this movie, it was fun to watch these characters work together.
?I don?t want nothing to do with that clown.?
Grade: B.
