Review of The Batman/Superman Movie: World's Finest (1997) by Eric C — 26 Sep 2009

I love this film, even though it is a 3 part episode of the New Batman/Superman Adventures it still works.

All the principle voice actors from the DCAU are back.

Kevin Conroy comes in as Batman/Bruce Wayne; whose attraction for Lois(played by Dana Delany)causes a small triangle story.

Tim Daly continues to voice Superman/Clark Kent and still does a terrific job.

Clancy Brown rolls in as the voice of Lex Luthor and sounds just as sinister as ever.

Mark Hamil and Arleen Sorquin round out the main voice cast and turn out one of their best voice performances in the whole 15 years they've played the roles.

Andrea Romano is the voice caster in all things DC Animated and continues to shine, even in the new Batmn Superman Movie Public Enemies(I've seen it, but RT doesn't have it up yet).

The animation is still up there, they didn't change anything from the DCAU, but that is to be expected, since this is part of that world. The episode when aired as a 3 part episode is called World's Finest.

There are a lot of fun moments that stick out. One involves The Joker and Lex talking; while Harley and Mercy are fighting in the background; just classic. The scene ends with Harley in need of a hospital and Joker asking "How you doing slugger.".

My biggest problem is some of the continuity and the whole robot part of the film. I'm not big on robots(unless your a Terminator). One of the continuity issues I felt confused about is the distance between Gotham and Metropolis. I mean there have been times when we have seen them drive back and forth between the two; but here Bruce has to fly in?`.

Other than a few issues this film is pretty damn close to be one of the best animated films from DC.
