Martin McDonagh's latest movie, The Banshees of Inisherin, is an excellent exploration of friendship, anger, depression, rage, and sadness, all while maintaining a dark sense of humour. Featuring two remarkable performances by Colin Farrell and Brendan Gleeson, the film follows a one-time best friends, Colm (Gleeson) and Pádraic (Farrell), as Colm's dislike for his friend leads them both down a dark path. Set against the backdrop of 1920s Ireland during the civil war, the rural island of Inisherin provides a stunning visual for the narrative. Along with the powerful performances, McDonagh's script and Kerry Condon's portrayal of Pádraic's sister, Siobhan, create a moving and poignant story of alienation and mortality. With strong performances, high emotion, and stunning visuals, The Banshees of Inisherin is one of the best films of the year.
