Review of The Banger Sisters (2002) by Josh G — 16 Feb 2010
'The Bangers Sisters' is a (2002) American comedy film about the reunion of two middle-aged women who used to be friends and groupies when they were young. The Film Storyline/Plot is about fifty something Suzette loses her job as a bartender she decides to make a road trip to visit her old friend Vinnie who she hasn't seen since their days as groupies back in the day. On the way she meets Harry, a nervous writer who says he is going home to confront his father, then shows her his gun. Once they reach their destination Suzette finds that Vinnie is now Lavinia, a conservative housewife who is reluctant to reexperience the flower power of her youth, and Harry finds confrontation with himself rather than with his father. The Film Tagline is "Some friendships last forever... like it or not" which is a great Tagline for this Movie its show as well. I now know why it's called 'The Banger Sisters' because there were rock & roller Groupies, coming of age.
The Movie was Funny, Entertaining, it's sexy, hot & very Funny, it's Retro for are time, showing abit of live a little, quit dirty, it's a shocker for a brilliant talented finding of friendship/coming of age Movie with a perfect place & setting, Best 2002/2003 Film for Susan & Goldie and all in all the Film was abit muddled up and kind of boring but with a unique cast and perfect roles for the two lead ladies (Goldie & Susan) it's a decent past of coming of age's Movie and it was a great final watch for the last film Goldie Hawn done (as you can tell am a big Fan of hers and Susan Sarandon career work). Goldie Hawn was talented (as always) and very down to earth, Sexy-Groupie (very good for age) and our-rages in the film, Susan Sarandon was a quite one till she spread her colour out and was a bubbly fun women in the Movie (also she was very sexy and good for her age).
The Film was made on a low Budget of $10 million, while grossing Worldwide of $38,068,353 which was an impressive as it was made on a low budget and the studio through it would fail, the film did good on DVD sales & rentals. The film is not know as much by critics or the audience as it on a radar of been know more today (2010) by fans of the two lead actress, but critics were mixed with the Film, while audience and Fans alike (of the genre of the film or the actors of the film) were pretty much Positive/mixed. The Movie was distributed by Fox Searchlight Pictures (The Sister of 20th Century Fox which makings decent films).
The Movie cast up-line is perfect and they are; (first) the two main lovely/talent actress Goldie Hawn (Love her to bits) as Suzette & Susan Sarandon (also love her to bits) as Lavinia Kingsley they are amazing actress for are time and have done well in there career (me thinks) they were, (as this is Goldie Hawn soo far last film, but is planning a comeback, it is her best but can't wait to see her in more films, she a very talented actress for are times, in my eyes), also the rest of the cast; Geoffrey Rush as Harry Plummer, Erika Christensen as Hannah Kingsley, Robin Thomas as Raymond Kingsley, Eva Amurri as Ginger Kingsley, Matthew Carey as Jules and the rest of the unknown cast. The Write and Director Bob Dolman has made a blend of good past on friendship find, but is abit boring at times but made a decent movie and one of his best ones and was glad to final get to watch this film been waiting five years to see it and was very happy with the outcome, but was slight boring, but with a funny & clever cast, good storyline/plot in the Movie and a fabulous two lead actress for the role am very happy with this Movie. The Cast are really aswome for all involved, its really sweet & heart-warming at times a great cast pick.
Overall the Movie is one of the best 2002/2003 Comedy & Drama film that really does well for its type, genre and element style & themes and is a great choice for the cast, I was really happy with the film set out on coming of age friendship. Hawn and Sarandon are terrific together and have really acting creative in an Movie I love it, the film is decent and mostly a watch for old people and adult really and is a close favourite to me, the film bring light to life and thing of friendship that are lost. The is a little Classic among Fans and people who like type of film is really just for them and I did love it, also very funny moments in the film and would lovely to watch again. Lv It!!
