Review of The Bang Bang Gang (1970) by Galaxy Quest P — 21 Apr 2012
Shane Black has brewed a madcap detective comedy, a clowningly meta yet strictly classic noir and an exceptionally, playfully glib movie, all repartee and take-offs on hard-boiled detective tropes. Downey Jr.
and Kilmer make perhaps the funniest, sharpest, least expected, most inspired buddy pair-up of the 2000s, and Monaghan is not only more than a love interest, she's more than a desperate attempt to make her more than a love interest.
She's her own character. She has her quirks, her backstory, her own way of communicating things, and she and the guys are naturally drawn together as two hasty, razor-sharp wits that can match each other.
