Review of The Bang Bang Gang (1970) by Josh O — 21 Apr 2013
Well made dark comedies are an absolute goldmine for inventive screenplays, and Kiss Kiss Bang Bang is no exception. In this case though, the script is elevated drastically by the charismatic performances by Downey Jr.
and surprisingly, Val Kilmer (making up for Batman Forever). The script especially succeeds in taking movie cliches and completely demolishing them with spontaneous surprises. This sub genre of drama/comedy can be beautifully done in the right hands, and Shane Black has made himself a movie to make audiences "kill themselves" laughing.
