Review of The Band's Visit (2007) by Maxime D — 16 Mar 2009
The Band's Visit is a story of an egyptian music band in a small towin in Israel that is both funny and touching. It is a story that shows not only the differences between a group of muslim people and a group of jewish people, but also goes beyond by showing the things in common that as human both groups of peolpe may have.
To me, the main concept of the movie is about these two different and some times seen as contrary cultures share with each other. They share their feelings, their experiences and their expectations. All this is done without the film being corney or melodramatic.
The story can be touching and funny. I particularily loved the scene at the sakate-disco.
