Review of The Band's Visit (2007) by Neeti M — 21 Nov 2009
A film about.... how loneliness and melancholy can help bridge the cultural divide...? Hmmm. An Egyptian band loses their way and has to spend the night in a soulless Israeli satellite town. Some of the story lines are left hanging, and several minor characters are introduced, but not developed to much significance.
So subtle as to be almost comatose at times; at other times extremely touching, but I'm left doubting whether any of these characters took away anything lasting from their brief encounter.
