Review of The Ballad of Jack and Rose (2005) by Megan . — 08 Nov 2007
This movie was okay, but when dealing with a subject like this I think it was probably hard to decide how to portray it without being too subtle, but also without crossing the line. I guess you could say this was a "controversial" topic, if you want- but what people have to realize is that there are places where things like this do happen.
In the end, all was made right, so I think the subject matter was handled well. I do not think this movie is perverted. I still don't know how I feel about it, but it was an interesting film. I appreciated Daniel Day-Lewis' acting in this movie.
I've only ever seen him in the more violent movies which he has been cast in- where he usually plays the bad guys. This role definitely made me look at him in a different way, and I could actually appreciate it.
