Beautiful, haunting movie about a single father raising his daughter in a gorgeous, remote location, an island "off the Eastern Coast of the United States" where they live in an ecologically harmonious house, built into a hill, topped by grass and gardens.
Just as their environmentally sound existence comes to be threatened by the encroachment of a new housing development, their almost idyllic relationship is threatened by Jack's evident mortality (he has some kind of heart condition) and Rose's coming of age.
Moving and lovely to look at, with great performances by a cast that includes Daniel Day-Lewis and Catherine Keener.
