Review of The Ballad of Jack and Rose (2005) by Bahador J — 25 Jan 2008
I liked this movie, I was entertained the whole time whether I was screaming "what the fuck!" or "jesus h christ" or feeling extremly uncomfortable. Daniel Day Lewis (aka. FOX) plays the semi-reformed existentialist trying to raise daughter, Rose as she comes of age.
His performance is obviously incredible (this man could play a tin can if he needed to) and adds the dimension needed for this movie to be half way decent. Belle is eerie and a little dry, but somehow they make sense.
They use alot of Bob Dylan and creative whippets of imagery that make this movie intresting. I feel like the main point of this movie, and the point of their lives was to feel things the way humans are suppose to.
Lewis makes being anti-establishment so appealing! Be warned, this movie is good, but at times you might be feeling like questions are left unanswered, and some things are a bit expendable. See it, and then you can decide to love it or hate it.
I am for it.
