Review of The Ballad of Cable Hogue (1970) by Adam Z — 09 Feb 2009
Often credited as Peckinpah's most underrated film. It's less violent, but everything he stands for in cinema is still here. Jason Robards and Stella Stevens have great chemistry, and you gotta love David Warner as the horny minister.
The anti-vengeance theme at the end is great, too; it shows that Peckinpah knows how to celebrate nonviolence and avoid exploitation.
