Review of The Bad Seed (1956) by Tiffany D — 31 Oct 2013
The premise has now become classic standard fare: the evil child. The Bad Seed started it all - and in many ways, one can see why it was so riveting at the time. By modern standards, it's pretty tame stuff, though.
The first half drags and is far too dialogue-heavy - the second half is dampened by the ending - changed from the play to be more "Hollywood" (and thereby losing the creepy payoff). Regardless, the leads are strong actresses - and the girl nailed the role to perfection.
---glad I've finally seen it... but probably wouldn't sit through it again 3 stars.
