Review of The Babysitter (2017) by Maciek W — 23 Oct 2017
The Babysitter is a Netflix original film directed by McG Staring Samara Weaving as the babysitter (Bee) and Judah Lewis as the 12-year-old boy (Cole) whose parents go out of town for the weekend. After Cole is supposed to be in bed Bee and her friends played by Robbie Amell and Bella Thorne play a game of truth or dare that quickly turns into a Satanic retrial that is observed by Cole. After Bee and her friends realise that Cole was not asleep and witnessed their ritual they try to stop him and chaos assume.
The Babysitter is a very enjoyable film with a lot of humour be it toilet humour. The two leads Weaving and Lewis both give an excellent performance with Lewis showing a lot of range for his young age. The relationship between the two of them is very believable and makes what follows that more painful to watch. The acting from the supporting cast is also very good. My one criticism for the film would be that for a horror film it is not that scary but still manages to build up a lot of tension.
All in all, The Babysitter is a good film that is perfect to watch this Halloween season with a large group of friends.
