Review of The Babysitter (2017) by Clem S — 24 Jul 2018
The film starts out like some corny comedy flick and quickly spirals into something illusory. After the first act the film starts throwing a sequence of events at you in such a way that you feel like you're experiencing somebody's dream. People seem to react to things in such a way that feels completely different from how you would expect them to, and sometimes people don't even seem to see or understand things that happen right in front of them.
The film feels like one of dreams we have where we're trying to explain something to someone or do something straightforward but just can't do it; something is holding us back. In a way, this feeling is personified by the main character who is shy, reserved, and too easily scared to do a lot of trivial things.
I reccommend this film based on that dreamlike feeling alone. Plus it was heckin' entertaining to watch.
