Review of The Babadook (2014) by Elizabeth C — 27 Oct 2015
The reasons why this is probably the best horror movie I've seen is that the sounds used are great, the subtle hints either in knocks, groans, words, and sentences are chilling, the mother and child characters are both relatable in many ways, whenever the villain is present the lighting and shadows are cast brilliantly, the villain can be whatever you make of it, and there are practically no scenes that are inherently wrong and detract from the plot.
Side note, that shot of the Babadook's shadow gliding towards the mom is awesome and terrifying.
