Review of The Babadook (2014) by Iris C — 27 Mar 2016
One of the first horror/psychological movies I've truly loved in years. This movie isn't for someone looking for gore and cheap thrills. This isn't a bunch of mind-numbing CGI and action, without a story to back it up.
This is pure story, heart, depth. It's about mental illness, loss, grief, loneliness, and the powerful bond between mother and child. It's beautifully written and tastefully executed. A very rare film.
