The Babadook-dook-dook-dook!

The Babadook is a horror movie thats not that scary, it doesnt have too many jump scares. If you like a scary story and some good acting check it out. The babadook is about A single mother, plagued by the violent death of her husband, battles with her son's fear of a monster lurking in the house, but soon discovers a sinister presence all around her.

I thought this film was great even if it was not that scary, it was more of a drama to me. I thought the music was chilling and creepy. It was a real emotional movie that dealt with a wife losing her husband and the family being terrorized by the babadook. It was not predictable and I was on the edge of my seat during the whole movie. It was also not confusing it was an easy story to follow and it is a one of a kind film.

My favorite scenes of the movie were the trippy dream sequences that the mom had, they were the only scary scenes of the movie. Those scenes really changed the movie bc it showed how unhinged and crazy the mother was becoming.

I thought both the mom and the kid really stood out acting wise. The kid really really surprised me with his acting, I wasnt surprised when I saw he was nominated for a saturn award for best performance by a younger actor in a film, the mom was also nominated for a saturn award. My favorite character was the babadook though he was a one of a kind character and I loved the ways he terrorized the family.

I'd give this film a 8.5 rating. The acting from the family was great. I thought the movie was not too long it the perfect length. I didnt like how they made the mom evil toward the end because she was a real likeable character before then. I also didnt like how annoying the kid was during the first half of the movie. I thought it was kind of dumb that the mom would get mad each time someone mentioned her husband it had been 6 years since the accident, plenty of time to grieve. I didnt like how bugsy was killed I could understand why that would upset viewers. I did not understand why the babadook stopped terrorizing them. I also thought it was lame that they never showed the babadook under is costume.

This was my favorite horror movie I have seen. I recommend this movie based on the creepy premise and great storytelling.
