Review of The Awful Truth (1937) by Davey M — 15 Feb 2008
What a wonderful, wonderful gem of a romantic comedy. Everyone is in tip-top form, as good as they ever were--Cary Grant and Ralph Bellamy, two of my favorite screwball comedians, and McCarey proving himself once again one of the very greatest of comedy directors.
But the real revelation is Irene Dunne--hilarious, radiant, and almost unbearably sexy. One of the wittiest, wackiest, and wisest screwball comedies ever made.
