Review of The Awakening (2011) by Eduardo C — 06 Oct 2018

This British horror ghost movie is actually really terrifying, when it wants too. It's got some clichéd jumpscares and other stuff like that, but on it's own, it still wraps up some deadly frights.

It's a mix of heavy ghoulish atmosphere, with also some gore to make for one of the creepiest films I've seen in a while. The early 20th century set up is well done, and the performances by Rebecca Hall and Dominique West are excellent.

Without forgetting a shocking twist ending, this flick reminds me a lot of The Others (2001), which probably inspired the film. Overall, this pic deserves more between three and three and a half stars and if you're looking for a good horror time, this one is definitely recommended !!
