Review of The Awakening (2011) by Stanislav P — 06 Aug 2012
A truly underrated film, Nick Murphy's feature film directorial debut is absolutely a frightening one. Set in 1920's England in a very creepy looking atmosphere of a boy's school, Rebecca Hall is quite excellent as the hoax finder who goes there to prove that a ghost that is supposedly there, isn't real.
The only negative thing that might bring it down is the lack of originality. Movies like "The Orphanage" or even "The Sixth Sense" have similar themes as well of children and ghosts.
Regardless of that, if you want nightmares to go to sleep to, here's a good one to watch.
