Review of The Awakening (2011) by Jessica P — 16 Aug 2012
Most of the folks who see the sleeper ghost flick "The Awakening" say that they figured it out 3/4 of the way through the film! Not me! I was way off track. So I enjoyed the twisty ending and steely photography of 1921 Britain.
But the narrative feels a bit sluggish and lethargic where it should scare the crackers out of you, so even with the immaculate Imelda Staunton and an impressive Rebecca Hall in the lead, the film is somewhat less than riveting.
