Review of The Awakening (2011) by Vickie R — 28 Sep 2012

I really liked this movie. I was a little wary at first as it was both a period movie and a horror movie (two genres that are frequently rubbish) but the story was pretty good, with a great twist at the end.

Rebecca Hall was as good as always - the fact that she was in it was why I watched it in the first place! However, Dominic West was a bit irritating - as always. I didn't really get why they felt the need to have his story in there and I found it a bit silly really.

The film wasn't particularly scary, probably because I found the ghost quite cute! Overall, the film had a great gothic feel to it with a satisfying ending.
