Review of The Awakening (2011) by Claudia G — 01 Jan 2013
The more I see movies about ghosts from Britain, the more I'm convinced that it's the country that's best at it. I loved the Woman In Black, more than this film, but The Awakening still had a great formula for it's self.
Nick Murphy has a clear understanding that filming dark hallways and doorways is a way for the audience's imagination to kick in, and to fill in the apparitions for ourselves. It's something that most American filmmakers can't get right.
I look forward to seeing what other scary stuff BBC films can come up with.
