Review of The Awakening (2011) by Kim M — 18 May 2013
Another nice ghost story from the UK, but it's not among their best. It's period piece with a remotely set boys boarding school as the backdrop and delivers adequately on the scenery and acting but for the most part it lacks the creepy atmospheric suspense scenes we've come to expect from past installments like The Innocents (1961), The Haunting (1963), The Others (2001) and so on.
It's still an enjoyable story that manages to kick everything up a notch for the climax.
