Review of The Awakening (2011) by Jimmi S — 23 Oct 2015
A good British Ghost Story about the loneliness of people and how people who never quite live or are haunted by their pasts are little more than ghosts themselves. And there is a ghost. The ghost of a little boy who holds a key to the mystery of his demise and the past that won't be remembered.
There are twists and turns that serve the movie well, except at the end where it gets a little too much. Still, it is a haunting story of pain, grief and trauma and how it longs to be released. Solid acting and some good writing keep it tethered up until the very end.
