Haunting from the very beginning, The Awakening does stylishly delivers some nicely achieved psychological chills by clever use of conventional methods to catch ghosts and compelling performances (especially from the skeptic Rebecca Hall) before the mood ruined by the sex-ridden and melodramatic final act.
