Review of The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford (2007) by Samuel F — 25 Dec 2013
Why this film didn't get nominated for more than two Oscars let alone win any is beyond me. "Assassination" is a film like no other on Jesse James, sacrificing gunfights and train robberies with character analysis and superb performances.
But it also is long, drawn out, and in some parts needless. Nonetheless, a multiple-Oscar winner this should have been (supporting actor for Casey Affleck, best adapted screenplay, cinematography, and maybe even "Best Picture") and one of the best films of the decade.
