Review of Sam & Kate (2022) by Jluis_001 — 22 Nov 2022
Sam & Kate doesn't have anything wrong with it per se, but there's also not much in it to mention anything of congruent importance.
Unnecessary by far is an adjective that defines it perfectly and that's mainly because it never gives you anything you really care about.
Dramatic exploration is non-existent and focuses more on letting you draw your own conclusions.
Character development is basically zero, so you go through almost the entire path the story gives you with little explanation until it decides it has to end, and then nothing.
It will undoubtedly lean heavily on the presence of Sissy Spacek and Dustin Hoffman to entice audiences to see it. In fact, they are the reason I saw it, but Sam & Kate is a film that misuses both of them. What it really seems is that they are there just to serve as props for their respective offspring.
