Review of The Assassin (2015) by Andy B — 22 Oct 2015
I feel the need to offer a review in contrast to the others, in hopes of saving you some time and money. This is almost purely an exercise in meditative stillness and patience, filled with achingly slow scenes where hardly a word is uttered.
I can't imagine most modern movie goers would be inclined to stick around for any of it. The trailer might lead you astray, revealing almost all of the surprisingly brief action scenes and beautiful landscapes in one epic, bight sized chunk.
If you enjoy carefully choreographed tableaux vivants where actors, in measured precision, stand up, sit down, insert hair pins and gently play zithers for two hours you will not be disappointed.
