Review of The Asphalt Jungle (1950) by Christopher S — 14 Dec 2008
We've all seen films where the viewer "sides" with the bad guy(s), but no other film has made me sympathize so much with the criminal characters. This one is filled with great characters that Huston really develops as the plot thickens.
There are so many players that participate in some way in the heist, that the ending was quite unpredictable. Some really great moments in this one. Almost no music throughout the film really helped set a dramatic, realistic tone.
I'm sure this was quite ground-breaking upon it's release over fifty years ago. See it.
