Review of The Asphalt Jungle (1950) by Matt M — 28 Jun 2009
We're starting a heist-movie marathon, and decided to go in chronological order. So this, obviously, is the beginning. Good acting, especially from Sam Jaffe. James Whitmore and Marc Lawrence were also fun to spend time with. That said, I'm never going to be a fan of Sterling Hayden. Oh well.
The heist itself is good. Not overly complex, obviously, but suspenseful and interesting. The aftermath as well, although the influence of the Hays Code is disappointing (as always).
