Review of The Art of Getting By (2011) by Shander C — 20 Dec 2011
I had such high hopes for this film. God, I hate it when movies I'm excited for disappoint me!
I adore Michael Angarano and Emma Roberts and I was hoping their coming together would result in a great accomplishment. All cast members gave interesting performances, and the movie was SO ready to go to virgin territories. Freddie Highmore's character was so seemingly unique - his philosophy and the way he carried himself - but the creators didn't take advantage of that.
The movie went from an indie, refreshing coming-of-age film to a lukewarm Hollywood cliche. Sad fact, but true. Still - maybe there are a couple of things to take from it, and remember.
