Critics who didn't enjoy this just couldn't relate to it. Maybe it was because they were the popular kid in high school and had a large group of friends, I don't know. But there are people who will enjoy this movie despite it's at times paint-by-numbers story.

But aren't all movies at times paint-by-numbers? With a movie like this it's more about feeling a connection with the characters and source materials. Freddie Highmore and Emma Roberts both give good but understated performances here and that's what these characters needed.
