Review of The Art of Getting By (2011) by Eleanor B — 23 Aug 2012
A truly annoying film, The Art of Getting By is one of many modern day works that tries - and fails - to capture the spirit of Holden Caulfield. The characters are flat, the writing is clumsy, and the overall plot is boring and uninspired. Special mention goes to Emma Roberts's character, Sally, whose level of depth doesn't fill up a teaspoon.
One can assume that Gavin Wiesan comes from a similar background as George, as the film seems to scream, "Let's feel sorry for these pretty rich kids about their rich people problems!" Mr. Wiesan, no one wants to hear that stuff. I assume you don't know that, as you somehow thought that this movie would work.
