Review of The Art of Getting By (2011) by Amber S — 12 Sep 2013
A surprisingly pleasant experience and an easy film to enjoy. It's all too easy for the critics to simply dismiss this as formulaic, teeny bopper, trash. That however would be a cynical, shallow and ultimately unjustified view to take.
It's fair to say that this film won't be winning any prizes for originality of plot or characterisation. Still, at the end of the day, the acting was very convincing, and the story was enjoyable to watch from start to finish.
This is not going to be anyone's favourite movie, but if you approach it with a grin on your face, you'll find that by the time the credits roll, your grin will have grown to a smile!...
