Review of The Arrival (1996) by Vanessa B — 02 Jun 2008
It's a pretty decent sci-fi thriller, about aliens invading earth.. with Charlie Sheen as the slightly paranoid astronomer who first detects the alien's transmissions, but is then caught up in a race for his life to uncover their secret plot.
A decent performance from Charlie Sheen, ably supported by Lindsay Crouse, Richard Schiff and Ron Silver. The effects aren't bad for a 1996 movie, and there are some decent dramatic sequences, and some good action sequences. However the plot is a little formulaic and predictable.
If you're a fan of the genre, then I'm sure you'll enjoy this.
