Review of The Aristocrats (2005) by Ernie P — 14 Oct 2007
What I found more interesting than the actual film itself was the commentary by the creators of the film, Paul Provenza and Penn Jillette...really enlightening in terms of revealing the creative process of most of today's top stand-up comics.
...as for the film itself, I laughed a few times, but gradually became less and less amused....not because I was offended (I wasn't) but because I was bored....the central joke just isn't that funny, and there didn't seem to be that many variations of it as the film went on.
...there are some fine individual highlights on the bonus features though which fans of stand-up comedy should definitely check out....a warning to those of you who haven't seen this yet - this is most definitely the crudest film I've ever seen.
...if that sort of thing turns you off, then you should probably watch something else.
