Review of The Aristocrats (2005) by Mike H — 24 Apr 2008
I'm right in the middle here. Some tellings of the joke were funny. Most weren't. It was most volatile in the hands of Bob Saget, where the joke isn't the joke; the joke is the fact that he's telling you the joke. Who ever did the impression of Christopher Walken was excellent, and I think I would have enjoyed an hour and a half of that more than this. But the "insider" take on it was quite interesting, and the pieces were edited together with good timing and storytelling, even if the camera work was at times more appalling than the joke.
Update: I forgot to mention the mime. The mime's version of the joke is a candidate for the best telling.
