Review of The Aristocrats (2005) by Patrick P — 14 Jun 2008
The concept of this film is interesting. More than 100 comics share their (often) bizarre takes on an "industry joke," to varying results.
There are hits (Bob Saget, Martin Mull, and several others) and misses (Sarah Silverman's rendition had no sense of rhythm or delivery, and sometimes I'm not so sure if she even thinks she's funny herself; and Hank Azaria, who seems to go on forever), but what really holds this doc down is its lack of pacing, courtesy of bad editing.
It just feels slapped together. Simply put, it was a great idea executed hastily, but still had enough talent and wit behind it to make me laugh.
