Review of The Aristocrats (2005) by The Golden Jackal — 10 Oct 2009
The Aristocrats joke has a long and story history even though the joke breaks all the rules. The punch-line isn't that great and it may be a bit confusing so all the funny stuff is in the set-up. It's up to the teller to make that joke funny and at times, some of the comics do hit hard. However, nobody cares about the history about the joke or the whys of it we just want to hear everybody say the joke! Of course some of the versions fall flat but that's the chances you take with this.
Then there's the basic construction of the film. Almost everyone has a two-camera set-up and they cut back & forth with a speed that makes action movies look restrain. I'm going to blame Penn for that cause I want an excuse to assassinate someone with a crossbow. Then the DVD I have has audio problems with it going out of sync 50 minutes in...that was fun.
