Review of The Aristocats (1970) by Anna N — 16 Jan 2014
A slightly different tone in both music and animation style sets The Aristocats slightly apart from its better known Disney friends but thanks to some adorable kittens, and a few additional quirky characters, fits right at home in the Disney catalogue.
The Aristocats, despite having quite a few musical numbers, isn't exactly filled with a lot of songs you'll tend to remember enough to sing along with but make not mistake, the music will be remembered. Taking a somewhat highbrow path musically, The Aristocats has some of the best songs to find a Disney film but, thanks to foreign languages, different musical genres (jazz) , et al, they will be harder but not impossible, to keep to memory.
The story is a very simple one and yet manages to work very well thanks to some loveable characters and some great voice talent.
While this isn't Disney gold, it does do silver proud.
