Review of The Apostle (1997) by Steven H — 22 Sep 2007
I wasn't expecting to feel so moved by this film. I normally find the southern Christian preaching style somewhat alien to me, but Robert Duvall gives it a convincing truth and passion. His performance is magnificent, and the pacing of the story -- with lush focus on the intimate experience of spirituality -- is part of its great strength.
