Review of The Apostle (1997) by Nathan C — 03 Nov 2007
I saw a midnight showing of this in a theater. I was the only person there; I don't think the projectionist was too happy. That aside, I love this movie because it portrays a real person of faith. It's not a caricature trying to make believers look like ridiculous hypocrites and it's not a fake, pie in the sky sort of movie where everything comes easy for those who believe.
The Apostle's pray life is inspirational. Interesting that Duvall wrote, funded, directed and starred in this little masterpiece.
