Review of The Apartment (1960) by James R — 15 Nov 2008
They sure don't make 'em like they used to! "You know, movie-wise".
The Apartment is more entertaining, fresh, heartfelt and relevant than practically any comedy I've ever seen. Billy Wilder flawlessly balances Jack Lemmon's slapstick with a witty script, the excellent supporting cast, subtle but stylish cinematography and a non stop bombardment of classic moments. I would go more in-depth but Shirley MacLaine would prefer me to just "Shut up and deal".
