Review of The Apartment (1960) by Kate E — 12 Feb 2009
I must say I really loved this movie. the charm of jack lemmon really shines here, and you feel awful for him the whole movie, because of what's going on. mclaine's character is soft spoken, horriblely troubled woman with a crap life, and you want her to do well, even if that means putting herself through hell. I cheered on Baxter through the whole movie, and at the end, I clapped lol I didn't think it would end happy.
This movie should be re-made. And I'm not saying in a shitty, remake way, but to take this very common story and put it in the age of cell phones, pagers, and give it a modern boost. See this movie if you like classics, off the cuff stories, and you like charming men, and I sure do.
