Review of The Apartment (1960) by Steven C — 20 Jun 2009
Billy Wilder comedies are always so good -- lovable characters, especially the goofy but charismatic Jack Lemmon, and incredibly clever stories make for romantic comedies that despite decades of similar plots before them still hit gold in the late '50s.
Shirley MacLaine is a treasure in her breakout role and Fred MacMurray, late in his career, still carries force. Dramatic, but mostly humorous, this is a light, fun movie without an single deep flaw.
