Review of The Apartment (1960) by Bass 9 — 06 Oct 2009
One the best drama and comedy movies I've seen, it explores themes like loneliness, love and the quest for it. A film full of private moments, you clearly see the change of the characters using subtle camera movements.
Visually couldn't be more perfect, the cinematography and the score is magical. Two characters one who doesn't love itself and one who needs a cure for loneliness. Lovely movie, real characters, excellent dialogue and of course Jack Lemmon and Shirley MacLaine are fantastic, and that line "shut up and deal" is gut wrenching.
Sometimes you don't need to get what you want, but go for what you need.
