Review of The Apartment (1960) by Matt P — 24 May 2011
This is a brilliant black comedy that examines essentially the idea of love, betrayal, selfishness and pain. The film is focused around CC Baxter (played wonderfully by Jack Lemmon) and his pursuit to rise through the ranks at his office.
. In order to do so he is required to loan out his apartment, in order for his Boss and superiors to carry out their Romantic escapades of infidelity.. Throughout the movie the soul of CC Baxter is constantly torn between what is right, and becoming a financial success.
Shirley MacLaine is excellent in this feature as his love interest.. As is his cold hearted boss played by Fred MacMurray. This film deserves all the accolades it has received and is a must see..
